‘David Cook, you’ve just been named the new American Idol, what are you going to do next?’ ‘I’m going to Disney World!’

LOS ANGELES -- To celebrate "The American Idol Experience" attraction coming to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, David Cook shouted the famous words "I'm Going to Disney World!" Wednesday night, May 21, after being crowned the newest "American Idol" in the popular show's star-studded season finale in Los Angeles. Camera crews captured Cook's pronouncement on the Nokia Theatre stage just moments after "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest announced his name to millions of viewers watching worldwide.

Later that night, Cook was featured in the newest "I'm Going to Disney World!" commercial that aired only hours after the finale. Starring in a role usually occupied by sports stars -- such as Super Bowl or World Series champs -- Cook is the first singer to ever star in the Disney commercial.

Cook's role in the "I'm Going to Disney World" ad is all in celebration of the new "American Idol" attraction that will open at Walt Disney World in Florida in January 2009.

Currently under construction at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park, it's the first attraction anywhere in the world based on the popular television series, through an agreement with FremantleMedia Enterprises and 19 Entertainment.

When complete, Disney guests will be able to experience the thrill of an interactive attraction amidst all the glitz and glamour of the "American Idol" television show.

By starring in the commercial, Cook joins a line up of superstar professional athletes from the fields of football, basketball, and baseball, who have shouted the famous line during the past 20+ years, "I'm Going to Disney World!" (Source: Press Release, 05/22/08)

The Wave Brings a Splash of Fun, Healthful Dining to Disney’s Contemporary Resort

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- With drinks like the Antioxidant Cocktail, entrées such as whole-wheat linguine with clams, rock shrimp and fresh thyme in chunky tomato broth, and crispy almond-raisin "baklava" for dessert, The Wave brings a surge of new dining ideas to Walt Disney World Resort.

Located in Disney's Contemporary Resort, the new restaurant is "bold cooking inspired by fresh markets," said Dieter Hannig, vice president of new concepts for Walt Disney World Food & Beverage. "America is more and more a melting pot, and The Wave features American cooking with world flavors."

Guests enter the stylish new space on the first floor of the hotel through a brushed steel arch "tunnel" into The Wave's lounge, one of the largest at Walt Disney World Resort. The sleek, serene décor is earthy browns and golds, with frosted glass lamps for soft ambient light and a copper-colored metal ceiling. Banquettes and booths line the perimeter of the dining room, and wooden tables are set with white linen napkins. A large central table is draped in sheer fabric in purples and golds.

Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the 220-seat restaurant takes casual dining into the health-conscious 21st century. The classic American breakfast menu includes plenty of egg creations, but guests also can make their own Wave muesli or sip a Beta Berry Smoothie with raspberry puree and non-fat yogurt blended with Odwalla Berries GoMega (a great source of Omega-3). The Pure Sunshine breakfast cocktail features organic vodka and orange juice topped with Vitamin Energy Drink. Coffee is organic Colombian (fair trade and "Smithsonian-certified bird-friendly") and teas are whole leaf Pyramid bags in flavors from chamomile blossoms to monsoon chai.

At lunch, light eaters might enjoy lettuce wraps with sautéed lamb and bay scallops, or a lump crab cake with crispy papaya slaw. Entrées include oversized salads and a vegetarian sandwich with grilled tofu, roasted veggies and herb goat cheese on multi-grain bread, but guests also can chow down on an Angus chuck burger with cheese and Applewood smoked bacon, or a classic grilled Reuben.

The dinner menu offers a delicious spin on comfort classics such as pan-seared Alaskan black cod with corn and edamame (soybean) stew with cilantro chutney; braised lamb shank with bulgur lentil stew and red wine sauce, and a nouvelle chicken pot pie with thyme pastry. Sides at both lunch and dinner include braised greens and roasted sweet potatoes and carrots.

"Lots of stocks, lots of broths and seasonal ingredients keep the menu well balanced," said Chef Frank Brough. "We are sourcing ingredients locally and regionally to create fresh flavors, and our fresh catch of the day features sustainable seafood."

Desserts continue the theme with a dozen choices for mixing and matching three mini-favorites for one price. From chocolate mousse with chocolate ganache, to yogurt sorbet with blueberry compote and coconut panna cotta with passion fruit, guests can indulge their sweet tooth without a big hit in calories. Or go overboard with a dessert cocktail like the Mudslide martini: Baileys Irish Cream, vanilla vodka, Kahlúa and vanilla ice cream.

Wine 'With a Twist,' Innovative Spirits Menu

The wine program, with only screw cap wines, is cutting-edge and supports sustainable agriculture, says Master Sommelier John Blazon, manager of wine sales and standards for Walt Disney World Resort.

"The surge in the use of the screw cap is nothing short of a revolution in wine packaging," says Blazon. Industry experts say that the screw cap is the most significant technical evolution in the wine industry since the glass bottle was introduced 250 years ago.

And the options for screw cap wine are growing, said Blazon. The Wave serves no California wines (California Grill on the resort's 15th floor has a corner on the California market), but instead focuses on bright-style New World wines from the Southern Hemisphere, including Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.

Sparkling wines from Tasmania, Rieslings from South Australia, floral New Wave whites from Argentina and Pinot Noirs from New Zealand are among the interesting choices, with 50 available by the glass. A flight of 3-ounce samplings and dessert wines, ports and sherries round out the wine list.

For beer fans, certified organic ales from Orlando Brewing are on the menu. Produced in Orlando, these handcrafted ales use only American-grown certified-organic barley malt. Three Orlando Brewery ales are available on tap, including Blonde Ale, Pale Ale and Blackwater Dry Porter. Also on the menu is gluten-free Redbridge lager.

Trendy cocktails are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Start the day with a Pomegranate Splash (vodka, pomegranate liqueur, cranberry juice and soda water) or the Ultimate Bloody Mary (organic vodka, Bloody Mary mix and a dash of red chili sauce).

"Natural and flavorful are the buzzwords for cocktails," said Stuart McGuire, director of beverage sales and standards for Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts. The Pure-tini mixes organic vodka with organic mango and passion fruit liqueur. The Antioxidant Cocktail features wild berry vodka, black raspberry liqueur, açai juice with agave, lychee, aloe juice and freshly squeezed lemon juice.

The Wave is part of a revitalization at Disney's Contemporary Resort that includes a makeover of the hotel's fourth floor with a new game arcade and new quick-service eatery for salads and sandwiches (replacing Concourse Steakhouse). The popular Chef Mickey's restaurant and the monorail station anchor that family-friendly area. (Source: Press Release, 05/22/08)

Back By Popular Demand! Disney Cruise Line Returns to West Coast for Summer 2008

CELEBRATION, Fla. - The Disney Magic cruise ship returned to the Port of Los Angeles this morning, making it easier than ever for guests residing in Southern California to experience Disney Cruise Line’s highly popular seven-night cruises to the Mexican Riviera. The ship is on the West Coast for a limited engagement, sailing just 12 cruises this summer, but staterooms are available for select voyages throughout the season. The ship is scheduled to sail back to Port Canaveral, Fla. on Aug. 17.

Disney Cruise Line developed the special itinerary in response to overwhelmingly positive feedback about its original West Coast sailings in 2005 and requests from guests who wanted to see the ship once again depart from the Port of Los Angeles. "When we launched our first Disney Cruise Line Mexican Riviera sailings in 2005, the guest reaction to the itinerary was tremendous. We have a significant Disney Cruise Line fan base on the West Coast and we look forward to another summer season sailing from the Port of Los Angeles," said Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin.

Beginning today, the Disney Magic is scheduled to sail 12 consecutive seven-night cruise vacations from the Port of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta. The itinerary for the Mexican Riviera sailings is as follows: 2008 West Coast Itinerary Departing May 25, June 1, June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29, July 6, July 13, July 20, July 27, Aug. 3, Aug. 10.

Guests will delight in the unspoiled beauty of the Mexican Riviera. Cabo San Lucas will treat guests to a tropical paradise of white sand beaches, crystal-clear blue waters and breathtaking mountain vistas. Mazatlán offers guests a glimpse into Mexico’s rich history and culture, while Puerto Vallarta, with more than 100 miles of scenic coastline, will allow guests to absorb the natural beauty of Mexico. Disney Cruise Line developed some magical experiences for the ship’s return to the West Coast including brand new shore excursions exclusive to Disney Cruise Line, enhanced entertainment offerings and themed youth activities. Here is a glimpse at what’s in store:

Original Shore Excursions
Available exclusively to guests sailing on Disney Cruise Line, the West Coast Signature Adventure Collection offers a luxurious repertoire of fun-filled shore excursions. These adventures offer an intimate way to explore the sights of the Mexican Riviera. Some of the highlights include:

Waterfall and Hot Springs Tour in Cabo San Lucas Guests embark in a private vehicle to the East Cape Region in Cabo San Lucas. Once there, they take a short hike to a beautiful waterfall where they can take a dip in the cool waters and marvel at the sandy shores gleaming with gold pyrite. Guests continue to hot mineral springs and melt their cares away with a spa treatment created by Mother Nature. The Villa at Caletas in Puerto VallartaGuests board a private speedboat that whisks them to a secluded oasis only accessible by sea where they have exclusive use of a small villa. Hosts are available to assist in creating a relaxing and enjoyable stay as guests enjoy the snorkeling and kayak activities, take a relaxing snooze in a hammock or laze in a private Jacuzzi.

Entertainment
Even the world famous Disney Characters are getting in the spirit of the Mexican Riviera with lively entertainment enhancements, including:

Minnie’s Fiesta Grande Minnie is getting ready to say "todos a bailar" with a brand new sail-away celebration as the Disney Magic departs the port of Mazatlán. Guests join Minnie and her pals for Minnie’s Fiesta Grande, a fun filled party celebrating the magic, music and culture of Mexico.

Youth Activities
Children get a taste of Mexican traditions through fun-filled activities aboard the Disney Magic. Here is a glimpse at some of the activities:

Churro For Sure-Oh Children learn about one of the most famous Mexican desserts - the churro! They can experiment with different toppings and enjoy their own creations! Piñata Party Children discover the history of this traditional Mexican pastime creating brightly-colored paper piñatas and stuffing them with an assortment of goodies. A special surprise awaits as children get to break their piñatas at the end of the program.

Significant enhancements have been made to the Disney Magic since its original West Coast sailings in 2005. Today, guests can enjoy poolside movies on a 24-by-14-foot jumbo LED screen, an expanded spa and fitness center exclusively for adults and a new youth activities space designed for children ages 10-14. Rates for the special West Coast cruises start at $1,449 per person. Guests can book a seven-night cruise to the Mexican Riviera, or a magical three-, four- or seven-night cruise vacation to the Bahamas and Caribbean from Port Canaveral, Fla., by calling 888/DCL-2500, visiting disneycruise.com or contacting their travel agent. DISNEYLAND PARK

Indiana Jones Ventures To Disneyland Park For A Summer Of Hidden Mysteries

ANAHEIM, Calif. - After rescuing the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail from the forces of evil, returning the Sankara Stones to their rightful place, and battling sinister foreign agents to find a mysterious Crystal Skull, what’s INDIANA JONES going to do next? He’s going to Disneyland!

Beginning May 22, deep in the heart of Adventureland - not far from the treacherous Temple of the Forbidden Eye, home to the heart-pounding Indiana Jones Adventure attraction — the daring Dr. Jones will take Disneyland Park guests on a thrilling series of exploits in the season-long INDIANA JONES SUMMER OF HIDDEN MYSTERIES.

Guests will be invited to become archaeologists, to interact with Indy himself and to journey deep into exotic jungles to unscramble clues, all the while learning what life is like for one of the greatest adventure heroes of all time.

Among the highlights of the INDIANA JONES SUMMER OF HIDDEN MYSTERIES, created by Disneyland Entertainment in partnership with Lucasfilm Ltd.:

* Random Acts of Indy - In the crowded streets of exotic Adventureland, guests never know when Indiana Jones might make an appearance. It could be in their midst, perhaps it will be high overhead, or even right next to them as Indy dashes by. But look fast, because Indy’s never in one place for long, especially when he’s being pursued by sinister villains!

* Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Stone Tiger - In this intimate storytelling adventure presented multiple times each day at The Oasis, young Disneyland Park guests will uncover clues, decipher codes and embark on an archeological journey that culminates in an appearance by Indy himself!

* Indiana Jones Adventure Map - Disneyland Park guests will explore just like Indy does when they pick up a collectible map filled with mysterious clues. Artifacts and symbols are hidden throughout Adventureland and once they are revealed guests will find a special code, which they can take home to claim exclusive Indiana Jones digital content courtesy of Lucasfilm Ltd. It’s all at www.disneyland.com/indy starting May 22.

* Indiana Jones Meets the Jungle Cruise - One of the all-time classic Disneyland attractions takes on a distinctly Indiana Jones flavor this summer as guests are invited to find unexpected Indy-themed surprises along some of the most mysterious rivers of the world.

* New Indy Photo Location - Guests can boast to their friends back home that they outran a giant rolling boulder just like Indy himself - and then they can prove it with photographic evidence.

Indiana Jones Attraction Redefined The "E-Ticket" Experience

In addition to the special events offered throughout the INDIANA JONES SUMMER OF HIDDEN MYSTERIES, the Indiana Jones Adventure - Temple of the Forbidden Eye attraction continues to thrill guests daily - more than 95 million of them since its opening in 1995.

The Indiana Jones Adventure comes to life in an expedition through the fabled Temple of the Forbidden Eye, mysteriously hidden deep within the dense jungles of India. Look for action and thrills around every corner in this Disneyland guest-favorite where guests, boarding well-worn WWII troop transports, embark on what appears to be a standard archaeological tour.

Built long ago in tribute to the powerful deity Mara, the temple was rediscovered by Dr. Jones and his expedition team. According to temple lore, Mara could "look into your very soul," and then grant the "pure of heart" one of threemagical gifts: unlimited wealth, eternal youth or future knowledge. However, the ancient legend also issues a stern warning: "A terrible fate awaits those who gaze upon the eyes of Mara!" Dr. Jones would only say, "Records indicate that many have come... but few have returned."

Prior to boarding, guests are instructed by Indy’s longtime friend Sallah to look away from the eyes of Mara. He also asks them to keep an eye out for Indy, who entered the temple but has been missing from the expedition.

For those who dare look into the eyes of Mara, their journey takes a perilous twist. Their vehicles encounter clouds of smoke, fire, bubbling lava pits, ominous steam vents, a crumbling ceiling - even an "up close" confrontation with Mara. Legend says that Mara vaporizes the "unworthy" with beams of fire and other horrors such as screaming mummies, horrible bugs and rodents, snakes and poisonous darts.

Explorers discover even more surprises around every bend in this subterranean world where, just like in the blockbuster movies, escape is only temporary as they traverse a shaking suspension bridge, suffer an avalanche of creepy crawlies and face a gigantic rolling ball which threatens to flatten them and their vehicle. The journey is set apart by the fact that Disneyland Park guests never experience the same ride twice. (Source: Pres Release, 05/21/08)

More Hours, More Thrills, More Shows During Summer Nights At Busch Gardens

Summer event offers street party atmosphere, more time to explore park’s newest attraction

TAMPA, Fla. - Play late at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay during Summer Nights, when the adventure park offers extended hours, special entertainment and festive food and drink from June 6 through Aug. 17.

In addition to thrilling rides, animal encounters and Broadway-style shows, the 335-acre adventure park will offer additional entertainment throughout the park after 5 p.m. during the three-month event.

Four stages will feature skilled performance artists, such as jugglers, a contortionist, plate spinners, hula hoop performers and an aerial bungee act. DJs performing throughout the park and stiltwalkers parading through Jungala in elaborate and colorful nature-inspire costumes create a festive mood.

Desert Grill will feature master ventriloquist Kevin Johnson and his Fine Feathered Friends, Clyde and Matilda, an outspoken buzzard and shyer cockatoo. Johnson appeared on NBC’s "America’s Got Talent" in 2006, making it to the semi-finals. He has won Best Male Performer from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions in 2004 and 2006 and has lectured on puppetry and ventriloquism.

A special event for the Fourth of July at Busch Gardens will be music legend Chubby Checker and fireworks in Gwazi Park. Checker made famous the song and dance craze "The Twist" with his 1960 hit. The concert will begin at 8:15 p.m., with fireworks to follow, weather permitting.

Summer Nights also offers more time to explore Busch Gardens’ newest attraction, Jungala, a lush jungle village where discovery and exploration invite guests to connect with the world around them. Visitors can experience up-close encounters with orangutans and nocturnal Bengal tigers, which are more active in the evening hours. Families can stay late to explore Tree Top Trails, a three-story play land of climbing nets, mazes and tunnels. Young adventurers can watch the sun set over the treetops on a zip line adventure or while launching into the sky from inside a 35-foot waterfall on the Wild Surge.

Park hours for Summer Nights are extended until 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Summer Nights is included with a day’s paid admission or any annual pass.

The Busch Gardens Shuttle Express will offer three additional departure times from Orlando on Mondays and Fridays to accommodate Summer Nights hours. For more information on Summer Nights or Shuttle Express schedules, please call 1-888-800-5447. (Souce: Press Release, 05/20/08)

"John,

First of all, let me say just how impressed we are with your company. Second, Beth is out of this world!!! Our Disney plans are coming along. I was so overwhelmed at first, I don't know what I would have done without you guys!!"

Thank you again, Kathy, for your kind comments.

Amanda writes:

"I liked the parent swapping idea on your page for Disney parks. Are there any options or ideas for the water parks? We have a 3, 4 and 1 year old. What kind of options do we have for our 1 year old? My husband and I are not worried about the other two. They could ride some of the family rides with us. What do you recommend for that and do you even recommend water parks? We enjoy our local water park here so I know they would love that one. I am just concerned about the infant and not being able to do anything. Thanks."

My wife, Donna, and my daughter, Julie, like to visit the water parks. Donna writes:

"They do have kiddie pools at the water parks. All the raft rides, etc, will be off limits for the infant. The big pools, low end will be okay. WDW water parks are the same as others, except they are themed. The good thing about Typhoon Lagoon is that they have lots of shade for your beach blanket. I actually took a nap in the shade there when Julie and I went when I had a migraine headache. Arrive early to snag a shady spot. Florida sun DEMANDS extra strength sunscreen for the baby and kids. Take the stroller so the baby can nap there (especially in a shady spot)."
=================================================
Beth, our travel agent, tried Universal's new 2-Park Fun, Food & Drink Combo ticket. Here is her review:

"I have some experience with the Meal Deal, and from what I can tell this new offer doesn't make any changes to that existing plan; it just combines it with a ticket. So here are my observations.

READ THE FINE PRINT CAREFULLY!

While the park ticket is good for unlimited admission for 7 consecutive days, the meal plan applies ONLY to two days. You can choose which two days, but it is NOT good for a full week of food. Based on what I've read, the drink mugs and their wristbands are given at the same time as the meal deal wristbands. They are also good for just two days, so you've only got two days of food and beverage covered.

CHECK THE LIST OF PARTICIPATING LOCATIONS!

Not all dining locations participate. In fact, just a small percentage do and they are ALL counter service. None of the nicer places participate, nor are there any locations in City Walk. The participating locations are, however, nicely spread out around the parks. My biggest gripe is that there are just a few places with healthy options so I found myself running cross-park several times.

SHARING IS NOT ALLOWED!

I know what you're thinking... We'll just redeem one meal deal for one person per day! Since the person with the wristband can go back as many times as they want, we'll just send that person through the line multiple times until everyone is fed! Nope. Doesn't work like that. Sounds good in theory, but they really do watch for such things. This isn't Disney and the dining locations aren't nearly as crowded (usually) and they don't have lots and lots of lines. Most places have just two lines and sometimes only one cashier - who will instantly catch onto you when you pass through the line for the third time in 10 minutes with yet another burger platter.

CHECK YOUR WATCH!

The Meal Deal is good from 11AM to a half hour prior to closing. That means you can forget using it for breakfast, and if you're planning on taking something to go arrive at least 45 minutes before closing.

FORGET YOUR DIET!

The menus at participating locations look eerily similar. They are heavy on pizza, pasta, burgers, fries and chicken (in a variety of presentations, but mostly fried). Fortunately, one or two locations do offer a veggie burger, and several offer salads (with grilled chicken). You'll need to bring your own low-cal dressing, though, and hope you can get your hands on one not pre-dressed. All platters come with fries and I have had no luck at all with getting them to substitute anything healthier. (They wouldn't let us substitute onion rings, either.) The good news: the desserts are lousy so you will have no trouble passing on them.

HINT:

One or two places offer fresh fruit platters that count as dessert. We got three of these platters - complete with forks and napkins - just before we left for the day, popped into a store and asked for a big plastic bag to stash them in, and stored them to the frig in our hotel room... Made a great breakfast when combined with the granola bars I'd brought in my suitcase.

IS IT REALLY SAVING YOU MONEY???

You can purchase a 2-park meal deal wristband separately for $23.99 adult, $11.99 child, plus tax. A 2-park unlimited admission ticket good for 7 consecutive days is available online for $79.99 plus tax plus $.99 fee. The drink cup is $8.99 a day and you get it for 2 days. So that makes an adult total $145.95 plus tax and $.99 fee if you do it a la carte. The 'new' ticket - which includes all the same things - is $138.95 plus tax and $.99 fee. (Children are $121.95 + tax and fee if done separately, $116.95 as the package deal.) So yes, you save - but just a little bit.

Honestly, my experience was that by the end of the first day I would have given nearly ANYTHING to sit down in a nice, air-conditioned restaurant and order something from a menu. But when you've already paid for all you can eat elsewhere it's hard to justify that cost. Given that you're only saving a little, I'd be tempted to just get the park tickets alone and then buy the meal deals for one day and see how it goes. You can also buy just ONE drink cup and share that. You're not supposed to, but my daughter and I share drinks all the time. That trick alone cuts the cost difference down to nearly nothing even if you do end up doing it again for a second day. I'm sure some people would disagree with me, but after being spoiled by Disney's great dining plan I am not impressed at all with Universal's and this new ticket and meal combo deal really isn't changing my mind."

"The Simpsons Ride" Opens At Universal Orlando In One Of The Most Anticipated Attraction Launches In History

You’ve seen the show, played The Game, watched The Movie. And now, yes, it’s finally here. You can ride - The Ride.

America’s favorite animated family has arrived in Orlando - with their very own mega-attraction. The Simpsons Ride officially opened today at Universal Orlando Resort. The new attraction plants guests smack in the middle of a brand-new Simpsons adventure - a ride adventure so big, so funny and so thrilling it’s no surprise it took years to make.

In an unprecedented collaboration, Executive Producer James L. Brooks, Creator Matt Groening and Executive Producer Al Jean in association with 20th Century Fox Television and the creative teams of Gracie Films and Universal Theme Parks have accomplished what has never been done before - the launch of the world’s first authentic mega-attraction of The Simpsons.

"The Simpsons Ride" showcases everything the hugely popular television series has made famous and that Simpsons fans love . . . a great story, humor and irreverence that are pure Simpsons, with original animation starring cast members Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, and guest star Kelsey Grammer.

Guests are swept into Krustyland, a theme park created by the show’s cash hungry clown. Meanwhile, maniacal Sideshow Bob has escaped from prison and has taken control of the park to get his revenge on Krusty and the Simpson family. Hand-picked by Krusty to be the first to ride his newest attraction, you are thrust into the middle of the action.

The attraction is larger than life - from the 28-foot-tall Krusty the Clown at the entrance (guests walk through Krusty’s mouth on his extended tongue) to the giant wrap-around cinematic experience created for this great new adventure. Guests soar through Krustyland and Springfield on a ride that features the world’s first-ever cork screw that’s animated!

"I take with all due sense of mission and humility the opportunity to spray water and spritz baby
powder at Universal patrons," says James L. Brooks.

"For twenty years I've been dreaming about this, and here it is -- a wild, thrilling Simpsons Ride put together by a huge number of talented artists and amusement-park maniacs," says Matt Groening.

"The Simpsons Ride is Universal at its best: bringing blockbusters to life in entirely new ways," said Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts. "And with its unique sense of humor and enormous popularity, it is the perfect complement to our brand of entertainment."

"We have created the ultimate Simpsons experience," said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative. "It’s a wild ride through the world of the Simpsons - up close and with the whole family, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie - like you’ve never seen her before."

"We’re bringing the fun and joy of The Simpsons to millions of fans in the most immersive way possible. The Simpsons Ride is a blast!", said Elie Dekel, Fox’s Executive Vice President of Licensing.

As the longest running animated series and the longest running primetime comedy series ever, The Simpsons has aired more than 400 episodes. The critically acclaimed show features Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson, who take traditional family life and turn it upside down. Exploding into a cultural phenomenon in 1990, The Simpsons has remained one of the most visible and marketable properties domestically and internationally. The Simpsons is noted for famous celebrity guest voices (such as Kelsey Grammer, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Kiefer Sutherland, Natalie Portman, Simon Cowell, Gore Vidal, U2, Mick Jagger and Aerosmith) and received a Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in January of 2000. The Simpsons Movie was released on July 27, 2007, has earned more then 500 million dollars worldwide and is now available on DVD.

This twenty-three time Emmy-Award-winning series is currently airing its 19th season. The Simpsons is a Gracie Films Production in association with 20th Century Fox Television. James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, and Al Jean are the current Executive Producers. Film Roman is the animation studio. (Source: Press Release, 05/15/08)

Busch Gardens Welcomes New Baby White Rhino

Just in time for Mother’s Day, the adventure park
announces latest new addition to Serengeti Plain

TAMPA, Fla. - Busch Gardens Tampa Bay announces the birth of a male white rhinoceros on Thursday, May 8, 2008. The rhino was born in the night quarters adjacent to their 26-acre white rhino habitat on Busch Gardens’ Serengeti Plain.

Weighing in at an estimated 100 pounds, the newborn - who has yet to be named - is the third calf and first male born to mother Mlelani and father Tombo. The October 2004 birth of Mlelani and Tombo’s first calf, Malaika, marked the first white rhino birth in the adventure park’s 46-year history. Their second calf, Dakari, was born in August 2006.

Busch Gardens participates in the American Zoological and Aquarium Association (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP) to ensure genetic diversification among threatened and endangered animals in zoological facilities. The birth brings the total white and black rhino population at the adventure park to 12.

Mlelani, Tombo and another female white rhino were airlifted from Kruger National Park in South Africa in 2001 through the efforts of the International Rhino Foundation (IRF), a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of rhinos. According to the IRF, just over 14,530 white rhinos remain in the wild, and fewer than 170 live in zoological facilities across North America.

In 2008, the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund donated $5,000 to Friends of Conservation, $15,000 to International Rhino Foundation, $10,000 to Rhino Fund Uganda and $10,000 to Tusk Trust to support rhino conservation efforts in the wild. The Fund was created in 2003 by the Anheuser-Busch Adventure Parks and is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to supporting environmental and wildlife conservation initiatives. Since its inception, the Fund has granted $5 million to more than 350 projects in the U.S. and around the world.

SEAWORLD ORLANDO

SeaWorld Orlando is providing homes for three adult male California sea lions being relocated from the Columbia River, located approximately 40 miles east of Portland, OR. Government officials in Washington, Oregon and Idaho are relocating the animals under the provisions of the Endangered Species Act as these sea lions are having a significant negative impact on salmon and steelhead trout that are either listed or approaching listing under the Endangered Species Act.

The animals will initially be in quarantine for at least 30 days and then be integrated into our populations. We strive to keep marine mammals healthy and safe in their native habitats by providing education programming at our parks and funding for research in the field. The sea lions that join our families of animals will receive exceptional care and play important conservation roles, educating the children and adults who visit them in their new homes. In all, the SeaWorld parks have committed to providing homes for up to 12 of the sea lions. (Source: Press Release, May, 2008)
--------------------------------
Two orphaned manatee calves were rescued from Central Florida waters over the weekend and taken to the park for care until they are ready to be released back into nature. SeaWorld’s Animal Rescue Team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days year, to rescue, rehabilitate and release hundreds of endangered animals each year. Rescued manatees are cared for in a specially designated rehabilitation area at SeaWorld. (Source: Press Release, 05/09/08)

Holiday Highlights: It was once suggested that while there's no place like home for the holidays, the next best place on the planet may be Walt Disney World Resort. The good news is that guests don't have to choose: They can experience the sparkling decorations and joyous seasonal entertainment throughout the Vacation Kingdom and still be home for Christmas, because the festivities begin weeks before December 25. Here's a sampling of what's in store:
# The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights -- As "snow" falls overhead, the Streets of America backlot cityscape at Disney's Hollywood Studios comes alive with millions of holiday lights that dance to music, animating sparkling displays to create twirling carousels, marching toy soldiers and even Santa and his reindeer taking flight. The synchronized music and light show is presented in collaboration with famed Arkansas businessman Jennings Osborne, who developed the dazzling display for his daughter more than a decade ago at his Little Rock, Ark., home. The spectacle is included with Disney's Hollywood Studios admission.
# Holidays Around the World / Candlelight Processional -- An Epcot tradition continues with holiday customs from around the globe, international storytellers, a nightly tree-lighting ceremony featuring Disney characters, a stunning display of snow-white and colored lights, and Candlelight Processional. A beloved Disney tradition that began long before Epcot, Candlelight Processional features celebrity guest narrators accompanied by a mass choir and 50-piece orchestra for a retelling of the Christmas story. All of the Epcot holiday fun is included with regular theme park admission.
# Castle Dream Lights -- A dazzling lighting spectacle transforms the iconic Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom into a glimmering, shimmering ice palace at holiday time. Bathed in more than 200,000 tiny white lights, the castle glows and glistens nightly. It's all a fulfillment of Cinderella's holiday wish, as guests learn during a special show that climaxes with the transformation of the famous Magic Kingdom icon.
# Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade -- A Disney's Animal Kingdom tradition, the procession results from Mickey Mouse's invitation to a special group of friends to join him on a holiday adventure. The parade is filled with gaiety -- the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and feelings of the season. Mickey and his friends are no exception. They've added holiday accessories to their safari costumes. Add in some special music and you have a combination that celebrates the holidays as only Disney's Animal Kingdom can.

The holiday fun begins as early as Nov. 10 with the first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which will showcase the Castle Dream Lights. Disney park officials are currently checking in with Santa's elves to find out when they'll have everything else ready to meet and treat Walt Disney World guests. Specific information will be available at www.disneyworld.com/holidays or from vacation planners at 407/W-DISNEY. (Source: Press Release, 04/30/08)

Toy Story Mania! Goes into ‘Fourth Dimension’ to Continue Disney Parks Tradition of Immersing Guests in the Show

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- When Walt Disney World guests "shrink" to the size of the toys they play with at home (or remember from their childhood) and become the star performers in the midway-game world of Toy Story Mania! at Disney's Hollywood Studios, they are experiencing the essence of Disney Parks: engagement in such an immersive and interactive way that guests become part of the show.

Every day, Disney cast members invite guests to play special roles in entertainment throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. Other immersive experiences include such roles as starring in a parade down Main Street, U.S.A., learning dance moves from the Disney Channel sensation "High School Musical 2," dueling with Darth Vader and many more.

"These experiences transport our guests deep into the magical realms of what Disney parks are all about," said Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. "Rather than imagine being in a Disney parade or what it's like to sail with Captain Jack Sparrow, these transformational experiences put our guests right in the heart of their dreams."

It's a Disney tradition that goes back to the very beginning of Disney Parks -- the opening of Disneyland in 1955 -- and is a consideration every time the famed Disney Imagineers huddle to fathom new magic.

In the latest immersive-entertainment experience, Toy Story Mania! guests are transported into a 4-D world where they compete in virtual midway-style games hosted by characters from the Disney-Pixar films "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2," including Woody, Hamm and Rex. Donning 3-D glasses and using spring-action shooters, guests launch virtual darts at balloons, rings at aliens and eggs at whimsical barnyard targets to see who can rack up the most points. Guests may even experience some special 4-D effects during different parts of the game.

And the interactive fun doesn't stop when guests put down their toy shooters. Here's a sampling of other immersive experiences happening every day at Walt Disney World Resort:

* "Block Party Bash" (Disney's Hollywood Studios). A new traveling show that lets guests play, dance and party with favorite Disney-Pixar characters from smash-hit animated films like "Toy Story," "The Incredibles," "Monsters, Inc." and "A Bug's Life." Block Party Bash rocks and rolls throughout the park, putting guests in the middle of an impromptu party during one of the wildest, most interactive street spectaculars ever.

* "High School Musical 2: School's Out!" (Disney's Hollywood Studios). Wildcat fever has guests dancing in the streets in the new interactive show presented multiple times daily. Inspired by the Disney Channel's record-breaking, original film, "High School Musical 2,"the high-energy cast invites guests to join the fun as they sing and dance along to the movie's hit tunes, including "What Time Is It?," "All For One" and "I Don't Dance."

* Jedi Training Academy (Disney's Hollywood Studios). Taking a cue from the popular Star Wars Saga, the power of the Force and the magic of Disney combine for an original and intergalactic entertainment experience. Young Jedi hopefuls -- known in 'Star Wars-speak' as "Padawans" -- learn lightsaber moves from a Jedi Master before facing off in a final test against the evil Darth Vader. Created with Lucasfilm Ltd., Jedi Training Academy is presented multiple times daily, adjacent to the popular Star Tours attraction.

* "Playhouse Disney-Live on Stage!" (Disney's Hollywood Studios). Some of the most beloved characters from the Disney Channel lineup are featured in a singing, clapping and be-bopping show designed for preschoolers. The show stars favorites from popular Disney Channel programs including "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," "Little Einsteins," "Handy Manny" and more.

* Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin (Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland). Armed with infrared lasers, Magic Kingdom guests join forces with Buzz Lightyear to defend Earth's supply of batteries from the evil Emperor Zurg in Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, a spinning, brought-to-life Tomorrowland spin-off of the hit movie "Toy Story." The shoot-'em-up fun triggers sight and sound gags, while a lighted display inside toy-spaceship ride vehicles allows guests to keep score.

* Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Tutorial (Magic Kingdom Adventureland). Looking for new recruits, Captain Jack and his mate Mack lead guests through a series of pirate skill tests to prove their mettle. Who is craftiest at wooden swordplay? Who can flash their most menacing pirate grimace? Faster than you can say "Yo, Ho! Yo, Ho! A Pirate's Life for Me!" the big moment arrives: getting officially sworn in with the Pirate's Oath to become honorary buccaneers of Captain Jack's famous Pirate Crew.

* Woody's Cowboy Camp (Magic Kingdom Frontierland). There's a rootin' tootin' good time in store as Woody, Jesse and Bullseye invite everyone to Woody's Cowboy Camp! Ridin' in on a wagon are some of their best cowpoke pals, along with Sam the Singin' Cowboy who leads a rollicking hoedown. Led by Bullseye and saddled up on wooden stick horses, kids giddy-up their way through a cowboy obstacle course -- maneuvering around parents donning hats shaped like cacti, mountains and mine shafts. It's kick-up-your-spurs, hootin' and hollerin' fun as the cowboy spirit comes to life on the dusty streets of Frontierland.

* "Main Street Family Fun Day Parade" (Magic Kingdom Main Street, U.S.A.). For the very first time, guests are able to parade down Main Street, U.S.A. alongside favorite Disney characters. It's a pennant-waving, drum-beating rush for guests when they join characters and march alongside parade floats, a marching band and an old-timey fire truck. There's even a stroller drill team to accommodate little paraders and their parents. When the parade hits Town Square, guests join the performers for a flag-waving patriotic finale.

Also happening in the theme parks every day:

* "Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor" (Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland). Guests laugh, joke and match wits with the beloved animated characters from Disney-Pixar's "Monsters, Inc." in an engaging and interactive attraction created by the Disney Imagineers. "Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor" features one-eyed hero Mike Wazowski, who has opened a comedy club to collect laughs that will generate power for the future. As Monster-of-Ceremonies, Mike recruits two comedian wannabes whose slapstick humor delights and engages audiences. Guests even get to text-message jokes on their cell phones for possible use in the show.

* "Turtle Talk With Crush" (Epcot). Crush, from Disney-Pixar's "Finding Nemo," has made a different kind of screen debut in The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion at Epcot -- as a chatting, joking quipster who engages guests in conversation from his movie-screen undersea environment. "Turtle Talk With Crush" showcases real-time animation using digital projection and sophisticated, voice-activated animation.

And that's not all! Coming in winter 2008:

* "American Idol" Attraction (Disney's Hollywood Studios). Starry-eyed Disney guests will get a taste of TV's pop culture phenomenon -- up close and personal -- when Disney's Hollywood Studios unwraps an "American Idol" attraction in winter 2008. Guests will be able to experience the challenge of auditioning, the rush of performing on stage in competition or the thrill of judging the performances in a live interactive setting modeled after the "American Idol" set. There will be multiple show times daily. Guests advancing through the screening process have the chance, in the nightly final competition, to win a guaranteed reservation for a regional audition for the "American Idol" TV show. * The murals located in the load area at Disney's Hollywood Studios are the biggest murals painted since Epcot was built.
