Shelly recently rejoined us with a Deluxe Lifetime Membership:

"Thanks, John! I had a regular membership a few years back and it was well worth the money. Since then my hubby and I have had twins who will be 3 years old this July. So, we are planning our first Disney trip with them! I'm so excited. I can't wait to see their little faces light up when they visit 'Mickey World' as they call it. Thanks so much for compiling all this information! You do an incredible job!!!"

Thank you, Shelly, for your generous comments. I look forward to helping your twins have many happy years at Walt Disney World!

First 'Year of a Million Dreams' Guests to Find 'Suite Dreams' As Disney's Cinderella Castle Opens for Overnight Stays

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- A Michigan family has made history as the first Walt Disney World guests to win a night's stay inside Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Park as part of the unique Disney Dreams Giveaway. The Fouch (pronounced like "couch") family of DeWitt, a small town near state capital Lansing, gained the key to the brand new Cinderella Castle Suite Thursday during "The Year of a Million Dreams," a Disney spectacular celebrating the dreams of guests at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California.

Jim and Lisa Fouch and their children, Brad and Hannah, were to spend Thursday night in the regal dwelling place - the world's most exclusive resort, with only one room available and no reservations accepted - through the Disney Dreams Giveaway, which awards extra-special dreams through a totally random process. Now, nearly every night for the remainder of 2007, another eligible lucky guest will win a similar stay.

Like the Fouch family, they'll be honored in a special ceremony, dine at Cinderella's Royal Table restaurant, and bed down for the night amid the splendor of Cinderella Castle Suite some four stories above the surrounding Magic Kingdom - a salon, bedchamber and bathroom off of a private marble-floored foyer, all replete with rich details. The Suite was created from unused space within the Magic Kingdom landmark once envisioned as in-park living quarters for members of the Disney family.

The Fouches became the recipients of the opportunity to become honorary Disney royalty for a day and night because 16-year-old Brad Fouch was sitting in seat eight in the second row of Simulator 4 of the Disney-MGM Studios' Star Tours attraction at 9:50 a.m. Thursday. That was the randomly selected location and time determined by the Disney Dreams Giveaway computer to award the Cinderella Castle stay.

"I was thinking I had the bad seat because I was sitting on the end," Brad said. "It's like a dream," Lisa exclaimed. Hannah added, "This is a dream come true!"

And indeed, for Hannah, who was celebrating her eighth birthday Thursday, it was. Before the vacation to Walt Disney World Resort, she had seen a Disney commercial in which Cinderella dances with a little "princess" and told her mom, "That's what I want to do!"

Winning the night in Cinderella Castle Suite marked the second bit of good fortune Thursday for the Fouch family. As they entered Star Tours, they won Dream FASTPASS badges that would allow them to bypass standby queues at a variety of Disney-MGM Studios attractions and shows during the day.

"I never win anything!" Lisa Fouch said afterward. "Mom, you can never say that again," Brad responded. (Source: Press Release, 01/25/07)

Disney Park Dream Jobs

The majority of U.S. workers surveyed thought it would be fun to work at a Disney theme park (57 percent). Most respondents dreamed of navigating the waters as a Jungle Cruise Skipper (28 percent) while others chose to take the royal route and see if the glass slipper fit as a Fantasyland Princess-in-Waiting (20 percent). Still other respondents wanted to get chills and thrills by being a Haunted Mansion Butler or Maid (19 percent).

Where Dream Jobs Come True

As Disney is traditionally the place ‘Where Dreams Come True,’ Disney’s domestic theme parks are giving Americans the chance to live out their "Dream Jobs" in conjunction with its "Year of a Million Dreams" celebration. Interested parties 18 years and older are invited to submit their virtual resumes online from January 24 through February 20 at www.careerbuilder.com/disneydreamjobs to win the opportunity to work at a Disney theme park for one day.

Participants will be asked to showcase their most original and creative Disney resumes including why they want to work at a Disney Park, qualifications and skills for their desired position, as well as why this is their Disney Parks "Dream Job." Five finalists will be selected for each "Dream Job" by the public to win the chance to become a Jungle Cruise Skipper, Haunted Mansion Butler or Maid, Apprentice Pirate, Fantasyland Princess-in-Waiting or a Disney Park Parade Performer. Winners will receive a trip to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California in June 2007 where they will live out their dream jobs. Complete rules and regulations can be found at the above website.

Between Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland in Anaheim, there are approximately 80,000 cast members currently employed. To learn more about the several thousand permanent positions available including fun jobs such as Jungle Cruise Skipper, Parade Performer, Lost and Found Operator or Topiary Designer, please call (407) 828-1000 for Walt Disney World and (800) 766-0888 for Disneyland.(Source: Press Release, 01/25/07)

Given that these three months indicate to cruise lines (and their investors) what they can expect for the year, this is also the period for some of the most generous offers. Sample Cruise:

* 7-Night Western Caribbean
* Departing from Port Canaveral, Florida

Just apply for a new U.S. Passport between December 20, 2006 and March 24, 2007 and visit the Island from January 17 through March 31, 2007.

Beth writes: "This is a great way to add some 'beach' to a Disney vacation AND get the cost of passports picked up. Anyone who plans to travel in the next several years should be applying NOW for them anyway."

Back By Popular Demand! Disney Cruise Line Returns to West Coast for 2008

Disney Cruise Line announced today that the Disney Magic cruise ship will return to the West Coast for the summer of 2008 to once again offer its highly popular seven-night Mexican Riviera sailings. Disney Cruise Line developed this special itinerary in response to overwhelmingly positive feedback about its original 2005 West Coast sailings and requests from guests who want to see the ship once again departing from the Port of Los Angeles. "Through Disney Cruise Line, we are able to offer people a different way to vacation with Disney outside of our theme parks, and we can take our ships to various parts of the world, providing new audiences with immersive Disney experiences," said Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Beginning May 25, 2008, the Disney Magic is scheduled to sail 12 consecutive seven-night cruise vacations from the Port of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said, "The Disney Magic experience is unique, and it is only fitting that it return to the port of such a unique city, Los Angeles. The West Coast experience that Disney will offer exclusively out of the Port of Los Angeles will generate much business and tourism revenue that will bolster our local economy." The itinerary for the Mexican Riviera sailings is as follows: 2008 West Coast Itinerary Departing May 25; June 1; June 8; June 15; June 22; June 29; July 6; July 13; July 20; July 27; Aug. 3; Aug. 10.

Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin said, "When we launched our first Disney Cruise Line Mexican Riviera sailings in 2005, the guest reaction to the itinerary was tremendous. We have a significant Disney Cruise Line fan base on the West Coast, and we look forward to taking the Disney Magic back to the Port of Los Angeles in 2008." Significant enhancements have been made to the Disney Magic since its original West Coast sailings in 2005. Today, guests can enjoy poolside movies on a 24-by-14 foot jumbo LED screen, an expanded spa and fitness center exclusively for adults and a new youth activities space designed for children ages 10-14. Guests booking a Mexican Riviera cruise can combine the enchantment of a Disney Cruise Line vacation with the fun and excitement of Disneyland Resort by booking a two-night pre- or post-stay at one of Disney’s three Anaheim resort hotels.

In addition to the 12 Mexican Riviera cruises, Disney Cruise Line will offer two 15-night repositioning cruises through the Panama Canal. The Disney Magic will depart Port Canaveral and head west on May 10, 2008, with the return cruise to Florida scheduled for Aug. 17, 2008.

Disney's Pirate and Princess Party - Select Nights

Event Immerses Guests in World of Pirates and Princesses

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Dreams of becoming a young buccaneer or pretty princess can come true during the new Disney's Pirate & Princess Party, a fun-filled after-hours event coming to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort.

Tickets are now on sale for 13 select nights from Jan. 22 through March 8, 2007.

With an adventure map and treasure pouch in hand, families can embark on a quest for colorful beads, chocolate doubloons and fun throughout the Magic Kingdom theme park. Adventurers can explore Magic Kingdom on a quest for pirate coves and princess courts brimming with specially themed entertainment, participate in character meet-and-greets and experience some of the most popular Magic Kingdom attractions open throughout the evening. Guests are invited to dress up as a wily pirate or favorite Disney princess.

Adding to the magic of the event will be two new nighttime entertainment spectaculars:

* "Disney's Enchanted Adventures Parade" features a new 39-foot-long raucous pirate ship overflowing with swashbuckling adventurers, plus a treasure-filled float with Captain Jack Sparrow himself. The colorful cavalcade moves down Main Street, U.S.A. with members of a flag corps each twirling the Jolly Roger, plus royal knights on horseback, court dancers and a regal processional of Disney princesses and princes.
* "Magic, Music and Mayhem," a fireworks display orchestrated to an original musical score, will fill the sky above Magic Kingdom.

"This new party allows guests to live out the adventures of scurvy pirates and pretty princesses," said Tara Anderson, Disney show director. "We have created a new Magic Kingdom event that lets you step right into your favorite stories and fairytales."

Party highlights:

* Adventureland: Captain Jack Sparrow leads a pirate tutorial offering young buccaneers sword fighting tips; plus a chance to join Princess Jasmine's Royal Guard Recruitment and share laughs with the hilarious Genie.
* Fantasyland: A fish called Flounder and crazy crab Sebastian kick it up with an "Under the Sea" dance party, and meet-and-greets with Ariel.
* Mickey's Toontown Fair: Court musicians and strolling jugglers hail princesses Cinderella, Belle and Aurora in a princess pavilion. Pirate Mickey and Donald invite guests to step right up and try their luck at games in a themed play area.
* Liberty Square: Singing sensation Riverboat Roulettes lure guests to a haunted river boat where the ghost of Jolly Roger spins tales.
* Tomorrowland: Young guests meet a space pirate, boogie down at Stitch's cosmic dance party, and enjoy break-dancing pirates and other entertainment.

New Itineraries and Pixie-Dusted Enhancements Await Disney Cruise Line Guests in 2007

CELEBRATION, Fla. -- With the elegant style of classic ocean liners and upgraded amenities worthy of a palace, the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder are setting sail in style during 2007. The Disney Magic will for the first time call on ports in Spain, Italy and France throughout the summer. The Disney Wonder was recently refurbished to include a spa makeover, jumbo poolside LED screen and a new toddler splash-zone for non-potty trained children.

Itineraries -- Throughout the entire year, Disney Wonder offers fun and excitement as it voyages to the popular port of Nassau, the Bahamian capital teeming with tropical and historic sights. Guests then sail on to Castaway Cay, where the livin' is easy and the fun is non-stop. A tropical paradise fringed with palms and framed by sparkling seas, the island offers special amenities for kids, teens and adults.

Disney Magic voyages promise plenty of adventure in 2007. The tropics envelop guests who embark on Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings to white-sand beaches and colorful island towns and villages. Beginning May 26 and continuing through August, Disney Magic ventures "across the pond" for 10- and- 11-night itineraries that include Barcelona, Spain; Palermo, Sicily; Naples, Italy; Olbia, Sardinia; Rome; Florence, Italy; and Marseille, France.

Entertainment -- Princesses and other popular Disney characters rule the stage while pirates take over the deck to keep guests entertained nightly aboard Disney Cruise Line. An accomplished cast, elaborate costumes, lavish sets, surprising special effects and classic Disney tunes as well as original compositions enrich the shows shown in the 977-seat Walt Disney Theatre, which include:

* "The Golden Mickeys," a salute to Walt Disney and his legacy of animation magic with theatrical song and dance, animated film, video and some of the most technologically advanced special effects at sea.
* "Disney Dreams," a bedtime story featuring Peter Pan, Belle and the Beast, Aladdin, Cinderella, Ariel and many other popular Disney characters who help a young girl realize the power of her dreams.
* "Hercules -- The Muse-ical," a musical comedy in which the title hero teams up with a motley villain, a Greek goddess, two wacky sidekicks and, of course, the muses to deliver romance, laughs and sensational songs from the Disney animated hit film, "Hercules." (Disney Wonder only)
* "Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story," which begins where the original ended and features Cinderella, Prince Charming and other favorites from the classic fairy tale, plus a zany new character. (Disney Magic only)

During each cruise, guests also can join in the fun of the "Pirates IN the Caribbean" dinner and deck party, an evening of adventure beginning with a feast fit for a pirate and continuing with a duel between Captain Hook and Captain Mickey. Guests don bandanas, stunt performers rappel from atop the ship's funnel and the night sky illuminates in a blaze of fireworks.

First-run films and classic Disney features play daily in the state-of-the-art Buena Vista Theatre. And now guests can chill out on lounge chairs and enjoy movies and major sporting events on a jumbo LED screen located poolside on Deck 9.

Dining -- The novel dining experience aboard Disney Cruise Line rotates guests through three imaginatively themed restaurants during the cruise -- the casually elegant Lumiere's (Disney Magic) or Triton's (Disney Wonder), the whimsical, island-inspired Parrot Cay and Animator's Palate, where Disney animation paints the evening with living color. For adults, Palo offers an elegant dining alternative with sweeping ocean views and northern Italian cuisine. On longer cruises, champagne brunch and afternoon high tea draw adults back to Palo during the day, and the entire family can enjoy the Disney character breakfast or tea with Wendy. The casual Topsider Buffet (Disney Magic) or Beach Blanket Buffet (Disney Wonder) serves up a bounty of great tastes for a laid-back breakfast or lunch.

Youth Activities -- Peter Pan might never grow up given the choices of activities in the Oceaneer Club (ages 3-7), Oceaneer Lab (8-12) and The Stack or Aloft (teens only). In fact, Oceaneer Club is themed to Peter Pan's Neverland and Captain Hook's pirate ship, offering a storybook escape where kids can scramble around a rope bridge and slide, watch movies and participate in activities that sometimes include Disney's popular cast of characters. Activities are broken down further by specific age groups -- children ages 3 and 4 can dance with Snow White, engage in craft activities or join Sebastian's Musical Sea Search; kids 5-7 can dig into some funny science by creating a sticky-green goo like Flubber or learn how to draw Mickey Mouse in an animation workshop.

Oceaneer Lab offers older kids a chance to check themselves in and out of activities at parents' discretion. This virtual world of fun includes a video wall with wireless controllers, flat-screen computers with "family-rated" software, plus loads of other age-related toys and activities. Fun stuff for kids 8-9 includes building your own volcano, baking cookies and producing wacky radio commercials with sound effects. Ten- to 12-year-olds can participate in a trivia game show, search for clues in a Mystery Challenge and join friends at a nighttime pool party.

At The Stack (Disney Magic) and Aloft (Disney Wonder), teens have their own dance floor, Internet café and lounge with big-screen plasma TVs -- even the counselors are cool. Teens who want to get involved can join in poolside games, learn the latest hip-hop dance moves and tap into some karaoke to find their inner rock star.

And the brand-new Ocean Quest hangout, found only on the Disney Magic, offers a fourth onboard location just for youth activities. The nautical-themed space is filled with computer and video games and arts and crafts activities. Plasma screens show movies, and a simulator game, complete with kid-size replica of the ship's bridge and LCD screen "windows" with views from the actual bridge, lets kids steer the Disney Magic in and out of ports around the world.

The youngest sailors (12 weeks to 3 years old) get special care at Flounder's Reef Nursery so that parents get some down time to explore the ship on their own.

Adult Activities -- First-rate pampering is in store for guests who seize the opportunity to enjoy the newly expanded Vista Spa and Salon complete with indoor spa treatment suites attached to breezy, private outdoor verandas. The 10,700-square-foot Vista Spa includes a spacious fitness area -- recently doubled in size -- with cardio and weight-training equipment, spinning classes, and even private salons designed for Pilates instruction and one-on-one beauty and fitness consultations.

Nighttime is for burning up the dance floor at WaveBands (Disney Wonder) or Rockin' Bar D (Disney Magic). And there's room for romance at the Cadillac Lounge (Disney Wonder) or Sessions (Disney Magic), where live piano music pairs perfectly with drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Game devotees can play board games or watch sporting events at Diversions, a classy sports pub with every amenity.

Enrichment programs for adults include a wine tasting and a behind-the-scenes peek at onboard entertainment. The Quiet Cove Pool with adjoining whirlpool spas is a haven for adults, and on the private island Castaway Cay, Serenity Bay is just for adults with a private beach, open-air bar, couples' hammocks and private massage cabanas. Beth, our travel agent, explains some confusing terms for travelers:

"I was just reading a Disney-themed newsletter and came across a comment from another reader about the difference between connecting and adjoining rooms. Assuming that most of you don't read as many Disney-themed newsletters as I do, I thought it was worth repeating here.

'Connecting' rooms are side-by-side rooms with a door that opens in between. 'Adjoining' rooms are simply two rooms that share a common wall. They do NOT have a connecting door. This terminology also applies to cruise ships, not just hotels.

Another pair of terms that confuse some travelers are 'direct' and 'nonstop' (with reference to air flights). Direct flights go from point A to point B without requiring a change of planes; however, they land one or more times before reaching point B. You can usually stay on the plane if you want to (and during short layovers they request that you do), but other times they may ask you to get off. Direct flights can be surprisingly lengthy given that sometimes the intermediate stop is rather out of the way. Nonstop flights, in contrast, go directly from point A to point B with no intermediate stops. These flights are the fastest way to get to your destination, but they also fill up the fastest and, as such, go up in price faster than direct and connecting flights."
