LET US PRAY...
As many of you know, I am an author of Catholic prayer books. One of the best ways to know Jesus more intimately and show our love for Him is through prayer. Prayer keeps us focused on the spiritual life and opens a channel for grace so He can make His presence known to us.

Gospel reading for February 18, 2011:
"And calling together the crowd with his disciples, he said to them, 'If anyone chooses to follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever will have chosen to save his life, will lose it. But whoever will have lost his life, for my sake and for the Gospel, shall save it.'" {Mark 8:34-35}
Dear Lord, You called us to be ready to suffer if we are to be made holy. We know that there can be no resurrection without the crucifixion; no crown without the cross. Help us to endure the hardships, the illness, the heartbreak that we will face in life, knowing that we are following in your footsteps, a path that will lead us to eternal happiness. Amen.
Gospel reading for February 19, 2011:
"And after six days, Jesus took with him Peter, and James, and John; and he led them separately to a lofty mountain alone; and he was transfigured before them. And his vestments became radiant and exceedingly white like snow, with such a brilliance as no fuller on earth is able to achieve. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were speaking with Jesus. And in response, Peter said to Jesus: 'Master, it is good for us to be here. And so let us make three tabernacles, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.' For he did not know what he was saying. For they were overwhelmed by fear. And there was a cloud overshadowing them. And a voice came from the cloud, saying: 'This is my most beloved Son. Listen to him.' And immediately, looking around, they no longer saw anyone, except Jesus alone with them. And as they were descending from the mountain, he instructed them not to relate to anyone what they had seen, until after the Son of man will have risen again from the dead." [Mark 9:1-9]
Dear Lord, You gave your disciples a vision of heaven to strengthen them for your passion and death which was to come. May this Gospel account give us hope as well that, after traveling through this veil of tears, we will enjoy the glorious vision of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, our Blessed Mother, all the angels and saints, and all our family and friends in your heavenly kingdom. Amen.

Help us to endure the hardships, the illness, the heartbreak that we will face in life, knowing that we are following in your footsteps, a path that will lead us to eternal happiness. Amen.
Gospel reading for February 19, 2011:
"And after six days, Jesus took with him Peter, and James, and John; and he led them separately to a lofty mountain alone; and he was transfigured before them. And his vestments became radiant and exceedingly white like snow, with such a brilliance as no fuller on earth is able to achieve. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were speaking with Jesus. And in response, Peter said to Jesus: 'Master, it is good for us to be here. And so let us make three tabernacles, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.' For he did not know what he was saying. For they were overwhelmed by fear. And there was a cloud overshadowing them. And a voice came from the cloud, saying: 'This is my most beloved Son. Listen to him.' And immediately, looking around, they no longer saw anyone, except Jesus alone with them. And as they were descending from the mountain, he instructed them not to relate to anyone what they had seen, until after the Son of man will have risen again from the dead." [Mark 9:1-9]
Dear Lord, You gave your disciples a vision of heaven to strengthen them for your passion and death which was to come. May this Gospel account give us hope as well that, after traveling through this veil of tears, we will enjoy the glorious vision of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, our Blessed Mother, all the angels and saints, and all our family and friends in your heavenly kingdom. Amen.
